This basic pH can open up hair scales, making them more vulnerable to external aggression. After use, an acidic rinse (for example, with a solution of water and vinegar) is often recommended to close the scales and restore balance to the scalp.

Solid shampoos, on the other hand, are formulated with gentle surfactants and have a pH level closer to that of the scalp, generally around 5.5. This acidic pH is ideal for hair because it helps to close the scales, leaving hair smooth and shiny. What's more, solid shampoos generally lather well and are easy to use, with no need for an acid rinse.

In short, although the two products may seem similar, solid soap is better suited to cleansing the skin because of its basic pH, while solid shampoo is specifically designed for hair care, respecting its natural pH and preserving its health.

Liquid soap is made from vegetable oils using a saponification process. This process involves reacting the oils with caustic potash to produce a soap naturally enriched with glycerine, which has moisturising properties.

In contrast, a shower gel is formulated on a water base, to which surfactants are added to cleanse the skin, as well as the preservatives needed to prevent the proliferation of bacteria due to its high water content.

As liquid soap is made exclusively from vegetable oils and contains no free water, it needs no preservatives, making it a more natural, skin-friendly alternative.

Yes, all our solid soaps are formulated for daily use on the face and body. Some are specially adapted to the specific needs of facial skin. . 

For example, Bye Bye Imperfections soap is designed to help combat minor imperfections, particularly during adolescence. It contains purifying essential oils, activated charcoal and green clay, which reinforce its purifying action.

For a gentle facial scrub, we recommend Perles Divines soap, whose jojoba beads provide a light exfoliation, unlike Épices Envoûtantes and Grain de Folie soaps, which are more abrasive and not recommended for this delicate area.

Yes, because our soaps are handmade using the cold saponification method, they have a basic pH. This pH is good for the skin, but can cause stinging if it comes into contact with the eyes.

Soaps that don't sting the eyes are generally dermatological bars, formulated with surfactants and a neutral pH, different from cold-saponified soaps.

One tip for children is to place a damp flannel over their eyes while their head is being soaped and during rinsing, to avoid any contact with the soap.

If a little foam gets into your eyes, simply rinse gently with clean water and the discomfort will quickly disappear.

It's a question that often comes up, as many solid shampoos are criticised for their lack of lather. We've taken this into account and formulated our shampoos to provide a generous, pleasant lather, making them easy to apply and rinse, while respecting your hair.

Solid shampoo is applied to damp hair using one of two methods :

• Work the shampoo into a lather between your hands, apply the foam to the scalp and massage gently.
• Apply the solid shampoo directly to the scalp once or twice, leave to stand, then massage into a lather using your fingers.

If the foam is not sufficient, simply add a little water and repeat the operation.

Unlike liquid shampoos, solid shampoo should only be applied to the scalp, not the lengths. When you rinse, the foam flows naturally onto the ends, which is enough to clean them without drying them out.

Washing hair with a solid shampoo takes a little longer at first, but with our shampoos, the effort is rewarded with hair that's full of vitality, shine and softness.​

There are two ways to use our Sublime Radiance Conditioner :

• As a quick conditioner: apply after washing your hair, then rinse immediately.
• As a repairing mask: apply it like a mask, leaving it on for at least 5 minutes before rinsing. To maximise its effectiveness, start your shower by washing your hair and applying conditioner, then leave it on while you wash the rest of your body. This allows the active ingredients to nourish and repair deep down.

Application according to hair length :

• Short hair : rub the conditioner between your hands and apply the resulting product to your hair, or rub it directly into your scalp.
• Long hair : apply the solid conditioner directly to the lengths.

It's normal to have the impression that you've hardly put anything in, but the effectiveness will be revealed when you dry: the hair will be detangled, nourished and will regain all its vigour.

To prolong the life of your solid shampoo, it's important to leave it to dry between uses. We recommend taking it out of the shower after use so that it doesn't come into contact with moisture.

A practical solution is to use a shampoo saver net, which allows the shampoo to be hung up to dry evenly on all sides. As well as making drying easier, the weave of the net allows the shampoo to lather up even more, and also means you can use every last bit of the shampoo. At the end of use, when the shampoo becomes too thin and fragile, it breaks into small pieces that stay in the net instead of falling into your shower or being unusable. You can then use your shampoo right to the end.

Having sticky or straw-like hair after using a solid shampoo is often a sign that the formulation is unsuitable for your hair type or scalp. Some solid shampoos contain ingredients that aren't suitable for all hair types, which can leave your hair feeling greasy, dull or dry.

Thanks to this formulation, there's no need to add a vinegar rinse after our solid shampoos. Your hair regains its vitality and shine as soon as you wash it.

How long a solid shampoo or conditioner lasts depends on a number of factors, including the length of your hair, the amount of product used in each wash and the storage method.

On average, for long hair (below the shoulders) and if you dry it out of the shower after each use, a solid shampoo can be washed around 40 times.
