Why create your own candles ?

In order to choose the ingredients composing them. In this case, a beautiful beeswax coming directly from the beekeeper and mixed with rapeseed wax. If you are vegan, we will go for a 100% rapeseed wax. The fragrance, chosen between several essential oils, will allow you to add your own personal touch.

How are we going to make the candles? First, you chose your container : usually a jar. You can also come with your own jar (a small step towards zero waste). Then, we chose the adequate wick for the jar; we coat the wick and place it correctly in order to have a pretty flame.

After that, you make your own mix of essential oils that is to be added to your wax. And then, you pour the wax into the jar. Once this is done, patience is the key…the candles need to cool down. This period of time gives me the opportunity to show you how to clean your tools but also to explain how to use a natural candle so that it will burn evenly and diffuse its subtle fragrance.

You will go back home with a leaflet with explanations and your customized candle. I will gladly answer any of your questions and afterwards…it’s up to you !

This workshop is regularly offered in autumn and winter at l’Espace, right next to l’Herboristerie de Louise in Saint-Gilles. It takes place at 18:30 and lasts approximately two hours.
